Hi, in these tutorials we will start from scratch working through the whole process of rigging a cartoon character. We will cover things like stretchy limbs and facial rigging. If you have any questions please leave a comment and ill do my best to help out.
hello there i'm very interested in this tutorial is awesome but i have a problem, recently i wrote on youtube a question i'll be grateful if you answer ---->holy crap i've been trying to make the cube that starts at the min 4:14 TT___TT i've been stucked here like for 3 hours and I can't! can you explain to me please please
ReplyDeleteHi, when i create the box i was using a mel script which isn't in maya by default you have to download/create some. The way you can make a cube nurbs curve is be creating a polygon cube, then with the CV curve tool (with the setting set to 1/linear) i just vert snap (holding the v key) the cv's to the corners of the cube making sure i get every edge covered, that way i end up with a curve that looks like a cube. If you don't like the cube shape you could also make other curve shapes :)
ReplyDeleteThe only think you need is a curve that you like the look of as it will be used to animate later :)
thank you so much! I love you! ;) have a nice day ;)
ReplyDeleteLoving the tutorial, do you have a copy of the sheep you used or a guide on how to make it?
ReplyDeleteNice tutorial!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a project where I need to rig an animal character (like your sheep) but the character needs to also be able to walk as a biped, like that cow in the Coleman's gravy ad.
Do you have any tips for this or could you do a tutorial?
Thanks again :)
hi, sorry i wont be able to make a tutorial any time soon (not got much time :( but might do later). Its similar for what im trying to do for my masters (making a rig that can go between creatures). The best way is to try have 2 rigs and have it blend between them much like how you make an ik and fk arm and have a switch between them. As when you look at how a quadruped and bipeds legs work there a bit different so trying to move a bipeds legs to and qaud's make it look odd. Also if its more cartoony you might be able to get away with more :Pso id try make a leg that can fit to both and if it looks too odd id try make 2 different ones and a way to blend between them.
